The Weaning food containing amylase activity is   being procured from 25 

Weaning Food Manufacturing Women Co-operative Societies and the

requirement of weaning food over and above the manufacturing capacity of the 25 Weaning Food Manufacturing Women Co-operative Societies  is procured from two  Private Manufacturers selected through Open Tender.

 

  • The weaning food is  mixed with luke warm water and served as small  ‘Laddu’s which is prepared by the Anganwadi Workers at the Anganwadi Centres. 

Take Home Ration is given to those beneficiaries who cannot come to the Anganwadi Centre such as  women in the last trimester and first two months after delivery the  weaning food is provided as Take Home Ration.

Egg   Vegetables and condiments are procured locally by the Anganwadi workers as per requirement.

END USE OF THE FOOD GRAINS ALLOCATED TO BE INDICATED:

·             Wheat being allocated under Wheat  Based Nutrition Programme (WBNP) is being used by 25 Weaning food manufacturing women co-operative societies for manufacturing  weaning food containing amylase activity being provided as Supplementary Nutrition to Children in the age group of 6months to 3years and also Pregnant Women and Lactating Mothers.

·              In Tamilnadu under Noon meal programme 1121574 Children beneficiaries in the age group of  24 months to 60 months are being covered.  Allotment of Rice under Wheat Based Nutrition Programme (WBNP)  was not claimed till date.  Hence it is proposed to claim 32750 MTS of rice from GOI under this scheme from the year 2010 onwards.

1)    Wheat,  Maize and Bengal Gram Dhal is pre-cleaned, destoned roasted, and pulvarised.

2)    Ragi is pre-cleaned, soaked, germinated, dried, rootlets and husks removed from the germinated Ragi, toasted, destoned, and pulvarised.

3)    Jaggery is pre-cleaned, and powdered.

4)    Calcium Carbonate, Ferrous Sulphate and Vitamin premix  of I.P. Grade Vitamins and minerals are   fortified as per ICDS norms.

 

The processed ingredients are roasted

(ragi – amylased) and ground.  The micronutrient are

mixed thoroughly with the roasted flour and packed

 in 2kg and 1kg packets.

 

100 gms of weaning food contains :

Energy - 350Kcal and Protein - 8.5 gms

 

 

B. Noon Meal

Hot cooked meal is served every day. Following protein rich foods are

also provided to the  children in the

Anganwadi centres.

For Vegetarian children, one banana

      is provided instead of egg.

 

Kitchadi is prepared at the Anganwadi using Rice,

Dhal and Vegetables are cooked with oil.  Double

Fortified  salt  (Iron and Iodine) is added in the

kitchadi and  served hot.
