INFORMATION REQUIRED FOR SECOND INDIA COUNTRY REPORT


ARTICLE 4, 42 AND 44 [GENERAL MEASURES OF IMPLEMENTATION
]

1. Are any initiatives taken in co-operation with the civil society (for e.g., professional group's non-governmental organisations) and any mechanisms developed to evaluate progress achieved?

2. What are the measures undertaken or planned in pursuant to article 44, paragraph 6, to make their reports widely available to the public at large in their own country? Give details regarding:

  • Process of preparation of the present report, in particular the extent to which government departments - at the central, regional and local levels - participated and NGOs were involved. Indicate the number of NGOs involved in the process.
  • Steps taken to publicise the report, to translate and disseminate it in the national, regional and local, minority or indigenous languages. Indicate the number of programmes broadcast on radio or television, the number of publications issued explaining the report and the number of NGOs, who participated in such events during the reporting time.
  • Measures adopted or foreseen to ensure wide dissemination and consideration of the summary records and the concluding observations adopted by the committee in relation to the state party's report, including any parliamentary hearing or media coverage. Please indicate the events organised to publicise the concluding observations and summary records of the previous report, including number of meetings (such as parliamentary or governmental conferences, workshops, seminars etc.) held. Indicate number of programmes broadcast on radio or television, the number of publications issued explaining the concluding observations and summary records, and the number of NGOs who participated in such events during the reporting period.

4. What are the measures adopted to ensure that children have access from a diversity of national and international sources to information and material aimed at promotion of child's social, spiritual and moral well being, physical and mental health. Indicate measures adopted to encourage:
  • Production and dissemination of children's books, dissemination by the mass media of information and material of social and cultural benefit to the child -in particular to the linguistic needs of children belonging to minority group or who are indigenous
  • International co-operation in production, exchange and dissemination of such information and material of social and cultural benefit for the child

  • International agreements concluded for the purpose
  • Development of appropriate guidelines for the protection of the child from information and material injurious to his or her well being as well as harmful exposure in the mass media
